Oculus Rift plus Euro Truck Simulator 2 equals the real next-gen
Vroom!
Virtual reality headset Oculus Rift puts players in video games: Half-Life 2, Mirror's Edge and the like.
And now, Euro Truck Simulator 2.
The brilliant Euro Truck Simulator 2, from UK company Excalibur (maker of the likes of Chemical Spillage Simulation, Camping Manager 2012 and Tow Truck Simulator), has been updated with Rift support. It's in beta, so doesn't work as it will, eventually, but it works well enough for fun with a capital F.
YouTuber emart demonstrated the mouth-watering combination of OR and ETS2 with a video, below, that's sure to set the hearts of video game steering wheel fans the world over racing.
As emart notes as he makes a delivery in pretend Czech Republic, OR doesn't display in high definition - yet (an HD version is in the works), so the visuals are a little blurry. And camera movement is limited - there's no positional tracking yet. But he's having fun. With a capital F.
I imagine Eurogamer's Martin Robinson, who loves racing games more than anyone can get him to shut up about them, will dust off his racing gloves for this one. Just remember to wear pants before doing the Let's Play.
