Notch refuses to certify Minecraft for Windows 8
"I told them to stop trying to ruin the PC as an open platform."
Outspoken indie success story Markus 'Notch' Persson tweeted to Microsoft that he'd rather not put his phenomenally successful sandbox game Minecraft on Windows 8 than support the closed platform.
"Got an email from Microsoft, wanting to help 'certify' Minecraft for Win 8," he tweeted. "I told them to stop trying to ruin the PC as an open platform."
"I'd rather have Minecraft not run on Win 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to Win 8 that way," he added.
This wouldn't be the first time he's spoken out against Windows 8. In a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) thread last month he stated, "I hope we can keep a lot of open and free platforms around. If Microsoft decides to lock down Windows 8, it would be very very bad for Indie games and competition in general."
