No new Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning patches "barring some sort of miracle"
Closed developer Big Huge Games is "deeply sorry".
There won't - "barring some sort of miracle" - be any new patches released for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, developer Big Huge Games has announced.
Lead designer Ian S. Frazier said a PC patch was in development, and would have added new difficulty modes, camera features and fixed bugs.
"But before we finished," Frazier wrote on the Kingdoms of Amalur forum, "the company collapsed."
Frazier revealed that "various issues outside our control (which unfortunately I'm not at liberty to disclose)" had prevented the studio releasing Reckoning patches previously.
"Now, barring some sort of miracle, it is highly unlikely that any patch for Reckoning will ever see the light of day," he told fans.
"I am deeply sorry that we were unable to get a patch out the door sooner, before this catastrophe struck - you supported us, and you deserve the support yourselves.
"While I consider Reckoning a very strong game and not especially buggy," Frazier added, "that's not the same as saying that it's perfectly balanced or bug-free, and it kills me that I'll never get the chance to correct any of its issues."
Frazier's post, written on Friday, confirmed the closure of the Baltimore developer - creator of the Rise of Nation series of games.
"It kills me that I'll never get the chance to correct any of its issues."

"Today was a rough day at the studio," shared Frazier. "After a long stretch of difficult circumstances, things finally came to a head, and this afternoon, we on the Reckoning team down in Maryland began to pack up our offices and say our goodbyes"
He thanked the community for "all the well wishes", and said it had been "a pretty horrible time" for all involved. "We greatly appreciate the great display of compassion throughout the fanbase," he added.
Big Huge Games and parent company/co-developer 38 Studios ran aground financially when Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning failed to reach an ambitious sales milestone. The studio's loan repayments weren't met, and things came swiftly tumbling down.
38 Studios had planned to follow Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning with an MMO dubbed project Copernicus. The game's writer, best selling fantasy author R. A. Salvatore, said Copernicus would have "blown you away".
