Ninja Gaiden 3 has multiplayer, more gore
Understand "what it is to gut someone".
A few new details have emerged as to what players can expect from the forthcoming Ninja Gaiden 3, including first mention of a multiplayer mode and, surprise surprise, more of the red stuff.
According to Gamesthirst, Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi told PlayStation: The Official Magazine that the game will delve deep into hero Ryu Hyabusa's no doubt troubled psyche.
"We are focusing Ryu as a dark Japanese hero," he explained. "There won't be new playable characters, but we'll focus more deeply on Ryu Hyabusa's life and lifestyle and feelings and thoughts."
"We are trying to take the violent concepts even deeper and make people realise how it feels to actually kill someone and what it is to actually gut someone.
"It's very important to us that people realise that violence is not only about blood and gore."
Elsewhere in the interview Hayashi promised a "complex multiplayer mode", while the series' infamous learning curve is also apparently getting attention.
"We know that many fans feel good about the difficulty level, but we are taking a slightly different approach," explained Hayashi.
"It's not that the game's going to be easier – nothing like that. It's just that we are trying to make a whole game, a more exciting game that can be enjoyed by anyone."
