Puyo Puyo and erm, Puyo

Famitsu has shed some light on Puyo Puyo Fever 2, coming to Japan this November, on PlayStation 2, PSP and DS.

Puyo Puyo Fever 2 persists with the colour-blob-matching style, unsurprisingly, but this time things initially take place via the adventures of three main characters - Amity, Rafeena and Shigu - who explore the small town of Purinpu. There they chat, shop, and take part in challenges and games.

Via this exploration, the main game opens up to numerous modes, such as the nine-course single-player game. There's also a trickier challenge variation, where you have complete specific tasks to progress, such as making six puyos disappear simultaneously. Further, there's a shop called the Osharena Omise, which allows the exchange of items (from a total of 72) that can be used to aid you in the single-player modes. There will also be a multiplayer feature, with DS and PSP versions expected to have single-disc/cart play.

Puyo Puyo Fever 2 will be released on November 24th in Japan, with no Western launch dates currently available.
