Metal Gear Acid story details
And Kojima isn't directing it, interestingly.
Konami has updated the official Metal Gear Acid website ahead of the game's playable debut at the Tokyo Game Show this week, filling some of the (many) gaps in our understanding of the card-based PlayStation Portable title.
The nature of the gameplay is still open to question (although not for much longer, what with a playable version making it debut at TGS today), but we now know that the game takes place in 2016, and sees Solid Snake dragged out of retirement to journey to the Physics and Chemistry Laboratory on Lobito Island in the African republic of Tejan.
He's heading there because an aeroplane with 517 passengers, including a potential future US president, has been hijacked by terrorists who want something called Pythagoras, and Tejan may hold the key to finding it - or at least finding out what the terrorists are up to.
Perhaps the biggest surprise though is that Hideo Kojima isn't directly involved. Production duties are now in the hands of Masahiro Hinami (who also worked on Boktai), with direction from Shinta Nojiri (who worked on the Game Boy Metal Gear title) and character designs by ZOE 2 artist Tsubasa Masao.
That's about it for now, but expect to hear more at TGS rages on, and keep an eye on this page for the inevitable trailer from the show.
