Medal of Honor for PS3, X360
And PC/PS2/Xbox. You parachute into Europe and roam free, says EA.
Electronic Arts has finally confirmed reports that EA LA is working on Medal of Honour Airborne for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with PC, PS2 and Xbox versions also in development.
The game's due out in winter 2006, and puts you in the boots of Boyd Travers, Private First Class of the 82nd Airborne Division. Unlike previous MOH games, you'll have full control of your airdrop behind enemy lines, allowing you to try and make for a starting point on the ground of your design.
Once you've landed, you'll be able to roam the level freely completing your objectives, which take you from Sicily throughout Europe and end up in Germany.
Along the way you'll be firing all the usual authentic, and in this case customisable weapons, and revelling in the authenticity backed up by EA's continued association with the congressional Medal of Honour. That's the plan anyway.
EA reckons that being able to determine your own spawnpoint by floating your own way over the battlefield changes things completely. "While integrating our state-of-the-art, next-gen technology into every aspect of the game, we are introducing innovations that will redefine the series and impact the genre as a whole," says the game's executive producer Patrick Gilmore.
"By fully controlling the airdrop from your very first step through landing, Medal of Honour Airborne adds a new dimension of player choice by letting you decide where every mission begins and how it plays out."
Expect to hear more on MOH Airborne later in the year - we'd put lots of money on it featuring prominently at E3 in May.
