BioWare working on MMORPG
New studio formed in Texas.
BioWare has announced it's opening an Austin, Texas-based development studio to work on its first ever massively multiplayer online RPG.
BioWare Austin's first project aims to combine "the best of BioWare's great past games with a compelling persistent online experience," the company's helpful press release noted.
Although no details on the game itself are available, we know that James Ohlen, BioWare's Creative Director, will act as lead designer - his previous credits include work on Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights, and Baldur's Gate I and II.
Also involved are "MMO veterans" Richard Vogel and Gordon Walton.
The Austin outfit will work closely with BioWare's Edmonton studio. Joint CEO Ray Muzyka said it'd be a "seamless collaboration". "With our extensive heritage in the roleplaying genre, BioWare Austin is extremely well positioned to innovate in the massively multiplayer online space for BioWare?s valued community of fans," he pointed out.
More on BioWare's MMORPG when we hear about it. The studio's currently hiring through jobs.bioware.com and will be recruiting at next week's Game Developers Conference in San Jose, too.
