5400 WOW players banned
Plus: new patch news.
Blizzard has banned more than 5400 World of Warcraft players from the game for good as part of plans to clamp down on gold farming and cheating in general.
A further 10,700 accounts have been suspended for "participating in activities that violate the game's Terms of Use, including using third-party programs to farm gold and items."
According to Blizzard, "Such actions can severely impact the economy of a realm and the overall game enjoyment for all players," and " Selling World of Warcraft content, such as gold, items, and characters can result in a permanent ban of the involved accounts."
But there's good news for non-scurrilous WOW fans: patch 1.10.1 has now been released to enhance your playing pleasure. Apparently, the Jagged Obsidian Shield is now Bind on Equip, and the Titanic Leggings Pattern will now drop slightly less frequently, which is obviously the best news we've had all day. You can read the full details over on the WOW website.
Perhaps more excitingly, patch 1.11 is coming soon - and there's good news for Mages, who will get a talent review. The patch will also introduce a new 40-man raid dungeon - the necropolis of Naxxramas, which is home to the dreaded lich Kel'Thuzad. Soon the scourge will march again etc., more info on the website.
