UK Charts: Battlefront pips GTA PSP to number one
PES5 still above FIFA.
While sports still dominate the all formats top ten, the leading football titles have been pushed from the top spots by new releases, with Star Wars Battlefront II climbing five places to take the number one position.
Take-Two leaps back into the fray with PSP title GTA: Liberty City Stories making an impressive debut at number two. The Warriors lose the battle but not the war, slipping one place from four to five this week.
Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 5 maintains its lead over rival FIFA 06, playing the field at third and fourth position respectively, while SEGA's drops five places to number eight.
Activision reap the rewards of an extensive primetime television advertising campaign as a sales surge for Tony Hawk's American Wasteland pushes the title three places to number six.
Capcom has seen yet another sales spike for its Resident Evil 4 title, which claws its way up to number seven following its recent release on PS2. Elsewhere, Call of Duty 2 waits patiently in line with a number nine debut, and EA's The Sims 2 takes full advantage of the release of multiple console versions to scrape tenth place this week.
Nintendo set the GameCube charts alight as Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance debuts at number one, while three new entries shake up the rest of the top ten. PSP charts are clearly led by GTA, and the DS top ten is still coping with the abundance of puppies from the numerous Nintendogs titles that just won't let go of the top spots.
Some changes in the Xbox charts as fluctuating pre-Christmas sales cause a jostle for position, though there are scarce few new releases as everyone prepares for the imminent launch of the new Xbox 360.
New releases due this week include the western adventure, Gun, from Activision, THQ's second title based on animated movie The Incredibles, Mario Superstar Baseball for the GameCube from Nintendo, and the clear favourite for a multiple platform chart domination, EA's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
