Game On lecture programme

Eidos' Ian Livingstone and Frontier Developments' chairman David Braben will be among the industry figures delivering lectures during special evening sessions at the Science Museum next month.

As part of the Game On exhibition, Livingstone will spend an hour on 13th November discussing 10 years of Lara Croft, while Braben will deliver his thoughts on the way games development has changed in the years since he worked on Elite as part of a lecture on 20th November.

Nicolas Rodriguez from Kuju Entertainment will kick off the programme on 1st November with his lecture "Dancemats and Joysticks: Who's playing now?" delving into the issue of how buzzers, microphones, cameras and dance mats have changed videogames and who plays them.

Then on the other side of Livingstone and Braben, on 28th November, Professor Mark Griffiths of Nottingham Trent University's Division of Psychology will offer "Gaming In Mind", attempting to answer the questions of whether games represent new ways to learn or whether they make us more violent and addicted to "the gaming buzz".

All of the sessions kick off at 7pm on their respective evenings, while Game On itself covers the period between 21st October and 25th February. More details can be found elsewhere on the site.
