Two new FF games for PS3

Square-Enix has unveiled two new Final Fantasy games currently in development for the PS3 to a packed pre-E3 press conference in Los Angeles.

First up is Final Fantasy XIII, which appears to be set in some kind of crazy future world and stars an as yet unnamed heroine. It's being directed by Motomu Toriyama, who also brought us Final Fantasy X-2. It'll be released in conjunction with a mobile game set in the same universe and titled Final Fantasy Agito XIII.

The second PS3 title to be announced is Final Fantasy Versus XIII. But don't go expecting some kind of beat-em-up nonsense - Squenix was careful to point out that "versus" means "to change direction" in Latin, so it's more about taking the series somewhere new. The game is being worked on by the same team behind Kingdom Hearts, will be all about "bonding", and will have guns in it.

Course, it's no surprise that Squenix is bringing its latest FF games to a Sony console - but there's good news for Nintendo fans, too, in the shape of two new Wii titles. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors will launch alongside the new console, but no footage was shown. We did get a peek at Chrystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, however, which looked very spanky indeed.

For the DS, there's Ring of Fates, which will have a Wi-Fi multiplayer option for up to four players. Final Fantasy III will also be coming to the handheld, in the form of a new 3D remake. And finally, there's the awfully cute looking Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. Hurrah!

Even the GBA is getting in on the action - another 3D game, this time titled Dawn of Mana and set a decade before Children of Mana. Final Fantasies V and VI are on the way to GBA, too.

And finally, for PSP owners, there's FFVII Crisis Core, which will star Zack out of Soldier and loads of Sephiroth, by the looks of things.
