E3 2003: Sony's line-up
Gran Turismo 4, Nico, Jak 2, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Syphon Filter: Omega Strain, and many more...
E3 is coming… E3 is coming! And one of the first stands we’ll be making a beeline for is Sony’s. [You've said that about all of them, mate. Where are you actually going? -Ed] Although the firm is determined to keep a lid on which games it is showing, we’ve managed to get confirmation of most of the tasty treats that it will have it store for us.
Top of the list is the online enabled GT4, closely followed by the certain-to-be-astonishing Nico, the follow-up to our favourite game of 2002, Ico. Scanning through the list, some excellent sequels are certain to send us into a frothy spin, namely Jak 2, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Syphon Filter Omega Strain. A 12 mission expansion to The Getaway is also expected to be given its first showing, albeit not on the show floor itself.
Sony can also be relied upon to break several new franchises at every E3, and this year is no exception, with Sony Cambridge’s Ghosthunter, Rise To Honor, and My Street known to be at the show in some form.
Elsewhere, the SCEA-centric line up will feature a number of US sports titles we frankly don’t give two hoots about, but don’t expect to see anything about Lost Boys’ alleged Halo beater Kin, or the Japanese curiosity Deka Voice.
The full line up as it stands is as follows: GT4, Nico, Jak 2, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Ghosthunter (behind closed doors), Destruction Derby Arenas, Syphon Filter Omega Strain, Rise To Honor, Hardware Online Arena, Twisted Metal Black Online, My Street, This Is Football 2004, World Rally Championship 3: Online, Everquest, Formula One 2003, Eye Toy, SOCOM 2, Dark Cloud 3 and some “surprises”. We’ll let you know more as we get it.
