50 Cent trails Bulletproof game
Well, he did get shot repeatedly without dying. It's actually surprising it's taken this long...
US rapper 50 Cent is set to star in a Max Payne-esque interactive odyssey through the criminal underbelly of New York City, judging by a computer-generated teaser trailer released on MTV.com this week.
The game, 50 Cent: Bulletproof, is seemingly being handled by Vivendi-Universal Games, and although there's no word on target platforms, release dates or even how it will play, it seems fair to guess that it'll be as inclusively "gangsta" as possible. After all, it's the angry kids who keep these chaps in business.
The CG clip boasts some extremely impressive combat choreography as the rapper follows a crime lord into a skyscraper and tears up his penthouse, ducking out from behind cover to fire, then running out of ammo and chucking his pistol at a guard's head. The camerawork is surprisingly arty, given this is just a promo, but we're not arguing. We hadn't really expected to think much of it beforehand, to be honest.
As we said, there's little word on what we can expect beyond the CG, but it's worth remembering that 50 Cent has previously said he'd star in a Grand Theft Auto-style effort, which this could quite conceivably be, alongside Dr. Dre and Eminem. The latter part seems to be confirmed by MTV.com, which says we can expect "additional tracks, voices and likenesses of Dr. Dre and other G-Unit members" - G-Unit we vaguely recall being 50 Cent's little rapping posse.
50 Cent will obviously contribute music for the game, and fans will be interested to learn that some of that will be freestyle rhymes that can be mixed in the game's "music lab".
According to MTV.com, 50 Cent actually turned down a lead role in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, deciding to make his own game instead. "I'm out to destroy the competition and my videogame is no different," he said. (If we wants some targets we could point him in a few directions.) "I plan to shake up the videogame world like I did the rap world," he added.
