New Super Mario Bros. on top in Japan
Final Fantasy XIII sales up to 1.8m.
Square Enix's PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy XIII continued to do big business in Japan as the Far East led the way into 2010.
The JRPG finished fourth on Media Create's software chart for the week ending 3rd January, boosting its lifetime sales by 111,705 up to 1.8 million units - over a third of the local installed base for the console itself.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii topped the chart, selling 268,212 copies and taking its its lifetime total up to 2.7m units.
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is third, with this week's 126,303 sales down 50 per cent, behind Tomodachi Collection.
Wii Fit Plus (5), Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver (6), Inazuma Eleven 2 (7), Wii Sports Resort (8), Phantasy Star Portable (9) and Professor Layton and the Devil's Flute round out the top 10.
Nintendo's consoles dominated hardware sales, as the three DS SKUs amassed a meaty 180,492 sales and Wii chased hard with 163,855 units sold.
PS3 shifted an impressive 114,369 units, while PSP topped that figure with 136,814 sales, but the PSPgo continued to struggle, contributing just 3903 to the total.
Miles behind was Xbox 360, which sold 6878 units.
