New Final Fantasy 15 trailer shows what happens 15 years before the game begins
Daddy issues.
Square Enix's put a new Final Fantasy 15 trailer out to coincide with the start of Gamescom. It doesn't feature gameplay, unfortunately, but it does feature fancy cutscenes that show the game's protagonist, Noctis, when he was a kid.
The Dawn trailer shows events that take place 15 years before the start of the game, due out at some point on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Here's what's going on in the trailer, according to Square Enix:
"The unbreakable bond that young Noctis has with his father King Regis is about to be tested - in the face of difficult decisions surrounding the growing war between his kingdom and the invading Empire."
By the time Final Fantasy 15 begins, the Kingdom of Lucis is about to sign a peace treaty with Niflheim, ending years of war. Prince Noctis is heir to the Lucian throne and set to marry Lady Luna in a bid to seal the deal.
It all goes pear-shaped, though, as the treaty is a ruse on the part of the Empire, who take advantage of the lowered Lucian shield to attack, taking the crown city and stealing its sacred crystal. Noctis, who was out and about at the time, finds out his father and his bride to be are thought dead, and is very upset indeed. So far, so very Final Fantasy.
At least there's a dog.
