Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance to feature a new playable character as DLC
Play as geriatric Snake?
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeace will let you play as a different character via post-launch DLC, Konami has confirmed.
Platinum Games producer Yuji Korekado announced the news in an interview with GameTrailers, though wouldn't offer any further details.
"Right now we don't have any plans for competitive online play or anything like that. However, we do have plans for some downloadable content after the release of the game that will allow you to play as a different character or experience different types of missions," he explained.
There's no telling who this character is, but given that Revengeance takes place 10 years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4, it would stand to reason that the rapidly aging Solid Snake would be too old to fight. Of course, this is Metal Gear Solid we're talking about; a series where Raiden can get his arms chopped off in one game only to show up and eviscerate helicopters in the sequel, so anything's possible.
Korekado also confirmed that Vamp is not in the game, and the pony-tailed man in the trailer is an important character who merely looks like him.

"Getting people excited to play as Raiden is quite a feat after his initially poor reception," wrote yours truly.
"Now the question remains, will fans clamour over the chance to play as Otacon if he gets cool robo-ninja abilities? If it's anything like this, I see no reason why not." On that note, could the new character be cyber ninja Otocon? Anything's possible, right?
