Little Inferno's soundtrack is now available for free
From the composer of World of Goo comes the best game soundtrack you didn't know about this year.
Kyle Gabler, the musical mastermind behind World of Goo, has struck again with his latest epic score to Little Inferno, a Wii U and PC game he co-created at Tomorrow Corporation.
Just as Gabler gave away World of Goo's amazing soundtrack for free, he's done the same for Little Inferno, which you can grab right here.
The indie designer/composer cited his influences as John Williams, Danny Elfman (during his 90's heyday) and Vangelis in the early 80's. "It was my goal with this soundtrack to write music that sounded like it could have been written in that time of VHS tapes and Stan Winston special effects, with clear, hummable melodies for each character and theme," wrote Gabler on Tomorrow Corporation's official site.
The influence is clear as Gabler's haunting, bombastic tunes certainly recall Danny Elfman's Edward Scissorhands score. Little Inferno even captures that movie's wintry isolation, solemn beauty, and quirky dark fairy tale vibe - in no small part due to the soundtrack.
Give it a listen, I say. The game ain't half bad either. Our Chris Donlan liked it anyway.
