Liberation Maiden is getting a text-based adventure game spin-off for PS3
Won't star everyone's favourite teenage president/mech pilot.
Suda 51's 3DS eShop and iOS shmup Liberation Maiden will be getting a text-based adventure game spin-off on PS3 entitled Liberation Maiden: SIN.
As detailed by Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (via Kotaku), it won't star the teenage girl/president/world-saving mech pilot Shoko Ohzora, but rather a new male protagonist named Kiyoto Kaidou. According to Joystiq, Kaidou is a mind-reading member of the president's cabinet and there will be a dating sim element as he chooses which colleagues to go out with.
Liberation Maiden: SIN won't be developed by Grasshopper, though. Instead, 5pb. Games, creator of such digital novels as Steins; Gate and Robotics; Notes will be creating it, while Grasshopper mastermind Suda 51 is on board as a scenario writer.
The original Liberation Maiden was something of a middling curio. "Play Liberation Maiden because you're after an acceptable arcade shooter," wrote Chris Donlan in his Eurogamer review. However, "approach it expecting another wonky blast of Suda 51 charm and, President Mech aside, you're going to be a little disappointed," he cautioned.
Liberation Maiden: SIN is due out later this year in Japan. No international release has been announced.
