JoWooD delays new Gothic game
Focused on triple-A delivery.
JoWooD has pushed the release of ArcaniA - A Gothic Tale to 2010 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
This, claims the publisher, has afforded extra time and "substantial" extra budget, which will ensure the new Gothic game is "one of the best releases of 2010".
That could also mean, however, that ArcaniA was well below par and JoWooD was forced to inject funds to see the project through.
ArcaniA - A Gothic Tale may carry the Gothic name, but with a new developer and added console versions, the game may feel very different to fans of past instalments. JoWooD is doing everything to ensure that is not the case, of course.
Previous Gothic developer Piranha Bytes has moved on to create Risen, which is also a fantasy RPG, and on PC and Xbox 360. The game, published by Deep Silver, recently added top-tier voice talent, as Andy "Gollum" Serkis, John Rhys "Gimli" Davies and Lena "Sarah Connor (Chronicles)" Headley and more join the cause.
