Joe Danger 2 confirmed for September release
Gone for gold, coming very soon.
Here's a little welcome burst of late summer sunshine. Hello Game's follow-up to its much-loved Joe Danger has been pinned down for a September release, with the game going gold yesterday afternoon.
Joe Danger 2 The Movie's coming out on Xbox Live Arcade first, with any later versions not yet announced - a reversal of the original that released first on PlayStation 3 before finding its way to Xbox 360 some time after.
The sequel places a heavy emphasis on providing variety, introducing new vehicles and a broader but more defined set of objectives. It's all shaping up rather well.
"When we heard the news that we'd gone Gold, everyone was shouting and celebrating," Hello Games' Sean Murray told Eurogamer as the theme to Going for Gold quite possibly blared out in the background. "I felt really sad for a minute though and I couldn't figure out why. I think it's that Joe Danger is done now. We're not going to make another one.
"Don't get me wrong, I think this game is great, the best thing we've ever done and it feels like we finally nailed it. It's a huge game made by a small team. We owed Joe a great swansong, a game that hopefully people still remember playing in ten years time. I hope we've done that. Saying that out loud, I just remembered how I should go join the rest of the team to celebrate now."
There'll hopefully be a firmer release date announced at some point in the immediate future.
