It looks like Warner has fixed Mortal Kombat X on PC
Round two¡ fight!
Publisher Warner Bros. has gone some way to repairing its shattered reputation on Steam by fixing the PC version of Mortal Kombat X.
Back in January, Warner was accused of abandoning customers who bought Mortal Kombat X on PC after it confirmed key downloadable content would not be released for that version of the fighting game.
At the time, NetherRealm community manager Tyler Lansdown said Mortal Kombat XL and Kombat Pack 2 would be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One only.
But yesterday, over nine months after that bombshell, Warner issued a 28GB patch for the fighting game that brings the PC version in-line with the console versions.
The patch improves the netcode, rebalances the game and adds a raft of graphics features PC gamers expect as standard, such as proper widescreen support. The patch also gives all users the Medieval Skin Pack and The Pit environment. You can check out the patch notes in full at the Warner Bros. Games website.
The update coincides with the launch of Mortal Kombat XL on PC, which means stuff from Kombat Pack 2, such as playable characters the Xenomorph from Alien, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror film series, Triborg and Bo'Rai Cho, are available.
Unfortunately, Mortal Kombat X PC owners still have to pay for Kombat Pack 2, but overall the update has gone down well with players, many of whom had lost hope. The Steam page for Mortal Kombat X reveals recent user reviews are very positive, compared to overall mixed.
A positive step, then. But Warner has much work to do to convince PC gamers that it considers the platform on the same level as consoles.
