Homefront MP "outstripped expectations"
More dedicated servers soon.
Homefront hasn't flopped - the official Twitter claims multiplayer demand has "outstripped expectations".
More dedicated servers will be brought online to cope.
"Demand for dedicated servers outstripped expectations. Though we're thrilled by the popularity, please bear with us as we bring more online," tweeted HomefrontGame.
Homefront was supposed to be THQ's answer to Call of Duty, Battlefield, Medal of Honor et al. THQ core games boss Danny Bilson once declared Homefront to be part of "that conversation".
But Homefront, released last week, scored only 6/10 on Eurogamer, and is currently sitting on a Metacritic score of 72.
Eurogamer reviewer Dan Whitehead wrote: "Homefront floats in the limbo between 'not bad' and 'pretty good', and is hamstrung by a single-player element that feels like a half-hearted obligation. What's most disappointing is that Homefront wanted so much to join COD and Battlefield at the top of the genre, but has ended up as merely a weekend timewaster for players waiting for the next shooter fix."
Yesterday THQ's share price fell 20 per cent, with pundits blaming mixed Homefront review scores.
