Hitman: Sniper announced
From the makers of Hitman Go.
The developer of well-received mobile game Hitman Go has announced its next project: Hitman: Sniper.
Hitman: Sniper, due out later this year as a free download for mobile and tablet devices, is a massively competitive sniping game that focuses on the subtlety of execution, Square Enix Montreal said.
You have to complete scenario-driven contracts that feature a number of targets and assignments. Each is designed to be replayed as you try to get the best score on the online leaderboards.
It's a bit like Hitman: Sniper Challenge, which principal Hitman maker IO Interactive released ahead of the launch of Hitman Absolution, with controls designed for touch-screens.
"We want to offer people the opportunity to try the game for free, and then customise their own game experience with optional in-app purchases if they want to," Square Montreal said in a blog post on the Hitman website.
"For instance, you can get early access to contracts, or upgrade your sniper rifle - all things you can earn through playing the game. It's up to you which one you choose and the game won't force you down a particular route. By making Hitman: Sniper available for free, it will allow more people to have immediate access and increase the level of competition, which is at the core of the game."
Expect more on Hitman: Sniper at E3 next week. Meanwhile, Square Enix Montreal said the Hitman Go team was working on the game's next set of levels.
