Here's help with finding the perfect Overwatch group
Our sister site MetaBomb has teamed up with matchmaking tool The100.
Quite a few of us in the office have become rather smitten with Overwatch, Blizzard's first foray into the first-person shooter market that's due out in just over a week from now. There's lots of cleverly designed heroes, loads of maps, and we think there's going to be a lot of love for the game.
Barring a major surprise though, the one thing that Overwatch won't have at launch is any kind of in-game method for forming permanent groups. This means that you'll be limited to playing with either random teammates in the matchmaking queue, or whoever happens to be available on your friends list at any given time.
If you've played much Destiny, you might have heard of a website called The100 which provides matchmaking tools for players looking to team up and tackle raid content. As part of our all-things-Overwatch channel at Eurogamer's sister site MetaBomb, we've also teamed up with the creators of The100 to make a similar service for Overwatch.
(Full disclosure: MetaBomb is - like Eurogamer - a part of Gamer Network, and Gamer Network is a commercial partner with the creators of The100).
Once the service is live, you'll be assigned to a group consisting of 100 likeminded players, based on a few things like your general availability to play, your preferred platform of choice, whether you're a casual or hardcore player, and so on.
Within that group you'll be able to schedule gameplay events and ensure there's always someone ready to play whenever you are, and you can message each other through the service too. If it's not working out with your new buddies, you can always switch groups or just use the site to make a private group for you and your friends. Once the service is live, you'll also be able to browse public games and quickly find a temporary team to play with.
It'll be ready in time for the game's launch, but you can register your interest now and we'll let you know as soon as it's up and running!
