Halo 5 update finally adds custom game browser

Over a year after launch, Halo 5 is getting a custom game browser.

The Monitor's Bounty update, due out tomorrow, 8th December, adds a join in progress custom game browser to Halo 5 on Xbox One and Windows 10.

The new custom games browser lets you search for in-progress games from the main menu. Games you can join are based on their privacy settings when they are created in the lobby.

The addition of a custom game browser is big news for the Halo community, which has so far been limited to matchmaking, and should give online multiplayer a real shot in the arm.

"This custom games browser is something the team has wanted to add for a long time for the community, but we needed the content browser and the search engine that powers it up and running first," 343's UX Design Lead Vincent Hui said in a post on Halo Waypoint.

"Thanks for being patient, and we hope you enjoy it whether you're running Duck Hunt 24/7, or just looking for new friends to slay!"

Elsewhere, Monitor's Bounty adds new weapons, armour and skins as part of new REQ items, as well as a major update to Forge. There's a new Observer Mode, too.
