Guild Wars 2 Trading Post/auction house now available for all
Another hurdle cleared.
The Guild Wars 2 Trading Post (auction house) is now available for everybody to use.
Eurogamer Germany's editor Benjamin Jakobs verified this moments ago. Thanks!
The Trading Post arrived amidst a flurry of nips and tucks made by Guild Wars 2 developer ArenaNet overnight. They're summarised in a game status update on the Guild Wars 2 Wiki - the new home for this sort of stuff.
Party and guild problems still aren't solved. "We've made progress," insisted ArenaNet, "but still have capacity constraints causing issues with party and guild functionality, including symptoms such as party members not appearing on the map, parties not staying together as they travel between maps or into dungeons, and guild manipulation not working. We're working on a fix and will provide a further update tomorrow."
There were some "network connectivity issues" between US and European data centres recently, "which caused intermittent errors with login, character creation and deletion, and guild manipulation". But, according to ArenaNet, "These issues should now be resolved."
The use of overflow servers continues, and it sounds like more are being added. "We're increasing world capacity as necessary to handle all the new players coming into the game," ArenaNet stated. As studio boss Mike O'Brien explained in an interview with Eurogamer last week, the use of overflow servers will subside as players spread out through the game, and aren't all clumped in one area.
Guild Wars 2 account theft is still happening, but it's fairly easy to protect against. Hackers are using email addresses and passwords stolen from other databases, and trying to match them to Guild Wars 2 accounts. Simply use a unique and strong password for Guild Wars 2 and they won't be able to break their way into your account.
The Reset Password option is still disabled to prevent hackers exploiting in their favour.
In the past 24 hours, 2574 people were helped who had hacked accounts.
PVP tournament rewards aren't working properly, but a fix is in the mix.
Some storyline steps were fixed - Stealing Secrets, and A Grisly Shipment - and others are in line to be resolved: The Battle for Fort Trinity, and Shell Shock.
As has been the case since launch, the official Guild Wars 2 forums remain down so the programming team can give blinkered focus to these teething problems.
