Ghostbusters game coming out next year
Atari confirmed as new publisher.
Atari has picked up the rights to publish Ghostbusters: The Videogame for PC, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 and DS.
The game will be released next year to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original movie. Sony is also planning to celebrate Ghostbusters' birthday with the release of the film on Blu-ray, plus special toys, t-shirts, comic books and a new theme park ride.
"Ghostbusters: The Videogame is a fantastic addition to Atari’s global line-up in 2009," said former King of Sony and current Infogrames emperor Phil Harrison.
"The title has built considerable anticipation and excitement among game fans for its high quality action and all-out mayhem. There’s no more thrilling Ghostbusting experience to be had, short of building your own proton pack." What about having a go on Sigourney Weaver while she's possessed by Zuul, Phil? Better than covering a cornflakes box in tin foil.
The news that Atari is to publish the game isn't exactly shocking, seeing as it was all over the internet last week. Still, it's good to know the Ghostbusters game will make it onto shop shelves now former publisher Sierra is officially dead.
