There's now 20% off the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless controller
The premium pad gets a small discount.
Update: Unfortunately, it looks like Amazon has expired this offer already. I'll update this post if the Elite controller does drop in price again.
Original story: The Xbox Elite Series 2 controller has been given one of its biggest discounts since launch, reducing the price of the premium pad by 20 per cent.
Even though the Elite 2 has dropped to £127 it's still an almighty sting, even if it's not quite as painful as the full £160. So, I can totally see why you might baulk at such a purchase. I mean, it's still half the price of an entire Xbox Series S console.
For this price, though, you do get what Digital Foundry calls it the best Xbox and PC controller on the market. It's a tight and responsive gamepad that feels great in the hand and offers a multitude of customisation options. There's Bluetooth support so it can be used on PC or for playing Xbox titles on the go with Project xCloud. Potentially very handy, now that's included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. With Microsoft confirming that all current Xbox accessories will work with the Series X and Series S as well, you'll be able to use it on the new consoles, too.
That's why I think bringing this (admittedly small) discount to your attention is worthwhile. Sure, it's not the bargain of the century, but if you've had an eye on the Elite 2 and you're willing to splash the cash then this is the controller to blow your money on.
Understandably, if it's still too much, you can check out DF's guide to the best PC controller for some other more affordable options. Perhaps, though, we'll see an even bigger discount as part of this year's Xbox Black Friday sales? We can but hope.
