Genshin Impact Paper Theatre puzzle solutions explained

There are four scenes in the Paper Theatre event during Lantern Rite, with three puzzles to solve for each scene. Not all scenes are unlocked at the start, so you'll have to wait a few days at the beginning to get the chance to solve them all and claim their rewards.

Here's when you'll gain access to each Paper Theatre scene:

• Homecoming - available from the start of the event
• Across Mountains - unlocks 21st January at 4am (server time)
• Over Peaks - unlocks 23rd January at 4am (server time)
• Adeptus Ex - unlocks 25th January at 4am (server time)

You have until Monday, 6th February at 4am (server time) to solve all the Paper Theatre puzzles and claim your rewards.

The actual gameplay of Paper Theatre is a puzzle. Different objects and characters are placed in each section of the stage, and you have to swap these sections around to guide the main character to their objective. The objectives will always be to reach a certain character or object included on the stage.

Sometimes you'll see a lock above a section of the stage - this means you can't swap that section for another.

Be careful of traps and gaps sometimes placed on the stage. If the main character walks into a trap, or falls through a gap on the bottom row, the scene will be reset and you'll have to try the puzzle from the start again.

Please note that if you lower the difficulty of one of the theatre puzzles, the solutions below won't work for you! You can go back to the standard difficulty by exiting out of the puzzle and trying again. Reseting after lowering the difficulty won't revert it back.

Paper Theatre Homecoming puzzle solutions Day 1

There are three Paper Theatre puzzles to solve during the Homecoming scene for Day 1. Here's exactly how to solve each Homecoming Paper Theatre puzzle:

Homecoming Scene 1 puzzle solution

The first Homecoming puzzle is designed to ease you into the concept of the event. All you have to do to solve Homecoming Scene 1 is:

• Move the second section with the vase to the third section with the door while while the main character is in the first section.

Homecoming Scene 2 puzzle solution

The first trap is introduced during the second Homecoming scene, but don't worry if your character hits it - you can try again. Here's how to solve the Homecoming Scene 2 puzzle:

1. Move the first section with the main character to the second section with the trap.
2. Move the first section with the trap to the third section with the door, while the main character is in the second section.

Homecoming Scene 3 puzzle solution

For the third Homecoming puzzle, you have to guide the main character to Yibing, the little girl, but the first section is locked. Here's how to solve the Homecoming Scene 3 puzzle:

1. Move the second section with the girl to the third section with the vase, while the main character is in the first section.
2. Move the second section with main character and vase to the third section with the girl and the trap.

Paper Theatre Across Mountains puzzle solutions Day 2

There are three Paper Theatre puzzles to solve during the Across Mountains scene for Day 2. Here's exactly how to solve each Across Mountains Paper Theatre puzzle:

Across Mountains Scene 1 puzzle solution

From now on we're numbering the sections starting from the top left of the stage.

The first Across Mountains puzzle introduces you to gaps. Fall from one on the top row and you can get to the other side of the bottom row. However, if you fall from a gap on the bottom row, you'll have to restart the puzzle.

Here's how to solve the Across Mountains Scene 1 puzzle:

1. Move the fourth section with the main character to the first section with the gap.
2. Move the fourth section with the gap to the third section with the trap.

Across Mountains Scene 2 puzzle solution

Here's how to solve the Across Mountains Scene 2 puzzle:

1. Move the first section with the main character to the third section with the gap.
2. Move the third section with nothing on it (while the character is on the second section) to the first section with the gap.
3. Move the first section with nothing on it to the third section with the gap and main character.

Across Mountains Scene 3 puzzle solution

This is quite a tricky puzzle that forces you to strategically bounce the main character between obstacles and quickly swap around sections.

Here's how to solve the Across Mountains Scene 3 puzzle:

1. Move the fourth section with the main character to the third section with the trap.
2. Move the first section with the gap (when the main character is on it) to the third section with the obstacle.
3. Quickly move the first section with the obstacle to the fifth section with the obstacle and trap.

There are three Paper Theatre puzzles to solve during the Over Peaks scene for Day 3. Here's exactly how to solve each Over Peaks Paper Theatre puzzle:

Over Peaks Scene 1 puzzle solution

The first Over Peaks puzzle introduces you to wind currents. You can use these to float up to the platform above, as long as it has a gap in it.

Here's how to solve the Over Peaks Scene 1 puzzle:

1. Move the fourth section with the main character to the sixth section with the trap.
2. Move the first section with the wind current to the fifth section with nothing on it.
3. Move the fifth section with the wind current (while the main character is on it) to the sixth section with nothing on it.

Over Peaks Scene 2 puzzle solution

The second Over Peaks puzzle introduces switches. If you step on a switch, it will open a corresponding gap on one of the sections.

Here's how to solve the Over Peaks Scene 2 puzzle:

1. Move the fifth section with the wind current to the third section with the switch and gap.
2. Quickly move the fifth section with the switch and main character to the third section with the wind current.
3. Quickly move the sixth section with the trap to the fourth section with nothing on it.
4. Let the main character walk and turn, then move the fifth section with the wind current (while the main character is on it) to the fourth section with nothing on it.

Over Peaks Scene 3 puzzle solution

Here's how to solve the Over Peaks Scene 3 puzzle:

1. Move the fifth section with the wind current (while the main character is on it) to the sixth section with the switch and trap.
2. Move the fifth section with the switch and trap to the sixth section with the wind current.
3. Let the main character fall and activate the switch, then move the fourth section with nothing on it to the fifth section with the wind current.
4. Move the first section with the gap to the fifth section with nothing on it
5. Let the main character walk and turn, then move the fourth section with the character and wind current to the fifth section with the gap.

Paper Theatre Adeptus Ex puzzle solutions Day 4

There are three Paper Theatre puzzles to solve during the Adeptus Ex scene for Day 4 - and they're the most difficult yet. Here's exactly how to solve each Adeptus Ex Paper Theatre puzzle:

Adeptus Ex Scene 1 puzzle solution

The first Adeptus Ex puzzle introduces you to keys. You have to first pick up a key when one is present to either unlock the door, or a section of the scene.

Here's how to solve the Adeptus Ex Scene 1 puzzle:

1. Move the fourth section with the gap and trap to the second section with nothing on it (while the character is on the third section with the door).
2. Move the second section with the gap and trap (while the character is on it) to the third section with the door.
3. Quickly move the fifth section with the trap to the second section with the door.

Adeptus Ex Scene 2 puzzle solution

This is a lengthy puzzle, so if you ever need to read the instructions below without progressing time in the puzzle, select a random section, which will pause the scene. You can then press the 'Cancel' button to put down that section piece and continue with the puzzle.

Here's how to solve the Adeptus Ex Scene 2 puzzle:

1. Move the sixth section with the key to the fifth section with the gap and trap.
2. Move the sixth section with the gap and trap to the second section with the switch (while the character is in the third section).
3. Move the second section with the gap and trap (while the character is on it) to the first section with the vase.
4. Quickly move the sixth section with the switch (while the character is on the first section) to the fourth section with the trap.
