Converse with characters to identify an infiltrator is the sixth and final of Week 8's legendary quests in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7.
Like many of the past weeks, the first quest in this set involves using one of the payphones found across the Fortnite map, and it's followed with the tasks to collect an access card from an IO guard, plant wiretaps at different key locations, interact with an IO operative's computer and mindwipe Bunker Jonesy, Swamp Stalker or Human Bill.
Completing this challenge will reward you with 30k XP, which will help you unlock more Battle Stars for the Season 7 battle pass.
Note this particular challenge is no longer able to be completed. What's new? Chapter 4 Season 2 has arrived! New additions include the Grind Rails and Kinetic Blades, along with the new Battle Pass, character collection and Eren Jaeger skin. It's a good idea to know how to get XP fast in Fortnite.
How to converse with characters and identify an infiltrator in Fortnite explained
This may seem like an odd quest from the get-go, but it's far more straightforward than what the premise hints at.
The task is to talk to five different NPCs in the battle royale map. One of them will have a strange conversation prompt, as well as looking 'glitched'. That's the infiltrator you need for this challenge.

If you have been on a hunting spree to find all NPCs for the Character Collection, then all of these locations will ring a bell. If you haven't, you can find a list of all eligible characters below:

- Human Bill: Steamy Stacks (H;2)
- Sunny: Believer Beach (B;3)
- Bunker Jonesy: Southwest of Misty Meadows (E;8)
- Bushranger: Risky Reels (E;4)

- Hayseed: Steel Farm (G;3)
- Marigold: Lazy Lake (F;6)
- Maven: Dinky Dish (F;2)
- Rick Sanchez: Defiant Dish (E;6)

- Special Forces: *Redacted* - South of Catty Corner (G;7)
- Swamp Stalker: South of Slurpy Swamp (C;7)
Now here's the fun part. The infiltrator is always random, so there isn't an specific character to pursue. Instead, you will have to talk to them randomly until one of them gives you a different conversation prompt.
In our experience, we first went to talk to Hayseed at Steel Farm, and he turned out to be the infiltrator. The dialogue will make it very obvious by highlighting certain phrases in red, but if the character itself already has a glitched-look to it, then that's the one.
All you have to do is continue passing the dialogue prompts until the conversation is over. This will activate the 'Reveal Infiltrator' prompt on the same dialogue wheel.
For us, doing this skipped all five quest steps altogether, and it then completed itself. It may be the same for you, but as we mentioned, all you have to do is talk to a few characters and it will appear at random rather sooner than later. Just beware of a fight against a trespasser taking place afterwards!
