Formidable black dragon Alatreon heading to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne in May
And there's a new seasonal event in April.
As Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players on Xbox One and PS4 ready to take on the fearsome twosome of the Raging Brachydios and Furious Rajang today, Capcom has revealed the next batch of post-launch content currently being primed for the coming months, including a new limited-time event for April and a doozy of a returning monster for May.
Capcom had previously teased that a "fan-favourite" creature would be making its Iceborne debut in May, and its identity has finally been revealed to be the formidable, elemental-shifting black dragon Alatreon, first introduced in Monster Hunter 3. As you'd expect, there'll be craftable weapons and armour themed around Alatreon, and you can behold its mighty Monster Hunter World makeover in the reveal trailer below.
Before Alatreon's arrival in May, Iceborne players on PC and consoles will have the chance to celebrate the onset of spring, courtesy of the new Full Bloom Fest limited-time event, which begins at 1am, 10th April in the UK, and come to a close on 7th May.
For the duration of the event, hunters visiting the Seliana gathering hub will be able acquire a new Poogie costume, seasonal Palico gear, pendants, additional guild card options, plus the new Whetfish Dual Blades, and Downy Crakes layered headgear. Additionally, log-in bonuses and bounties will grant the tickets needed to craft some special event-themed armour.
Those players that don't own Iceborne can relive the thrills of last year's Spring Blossom Fest in Astera while the Full Bloom Fest is on.
9th April will also bring Iceborne's Title Update 3 to PC; this is the same update released on consoles today, 23rd March, and introduces the Raging Brachydios and Furious Rajang, the Banishing Ball Guiding Lands Tool, the Master Rank iteration of Hunter Helper, plus the first wave of new Layered Weapons, enabling players to change the look of their favourite death-sticks without impacting their stats. More details can be found in the new developer video.
That's still not quite it for April, however; at some currently unspecified point in the month, content development will synchronise across consoles and PC, and the first fruits of that endeavour will arrive in the form of a new arch-tempered version of nautical-hued Elder Dragon, Namielle, plus a new Master Rank Kulve Taroth battle. Capcom says more Iceborne monster and updates are planned for PC and consoles from June onward.
