Final Fantasy 9 arrives on Steam with 'no encounter' mode
Has high speed mode and other 'game boosters' too.
Random battles in Japanese role-playing games can get really tedious, but in today's Steam release of old game Final Fantasy 9 you can turn them off! Yes that's right: turn them off!
'No encounter' mode is one of seven 'game boosters' included in the Steam release. The only other one named is 'high speed' mode. On top of that are high-definition character models and movies, plus autosaves and Steam Achievements.
Steam Final Fantasy 9 costs £15.99 most of the time but is £12.79 until 20th April.
Final Fantasy 9 came out back in 2000, which is a worryingly long time ago now. I remember dancing on a bus stop to welcome the Millennium in.
The game follows hero Zidane Tribal, a young thief, who rounds up the troops to take on naughty Queen Brahne. Smartphone ports were released earlier this year.
