Chickatrice and Cluckatrice in the Little Love on the Big Plains Hunt location and requirements
Before you get to the actual battle, here's everything you need to know about Chickatrice and Cluckatrice and the Little Love on the Big Plains Hunt:
- Prerequisites: complete Barheim Passage.
- Recommended level: 16+
- Petitioner location: Nomad Village, Giza Plains (Dry)
- Mark location: North Bank, Giza Plains
- Reward: 1000 Gil, Jackboots, Rainbow Egg
Head for the Nomad Village in Giza Plains and speak to the woman in the small enclosure, and then make your way to the marked area. Your first task is to eliminate every living creature from here (even the neutral ones) so make a couple of sweeps to ensure you've not missed anything - the rabbits can be hard to spot, and because you don't automatically target them with a gambit you need to keep your eyes open. Once the area is devoid of life leave and return.
Chickatrice and Cluckatrice strategies and how to defeat it
A single yellow Chickatrice will be rolling around near the marker, and as you approach a Cluckatrice will appear, followed by a few more Chickatrices. For the most part they'll stick to regular physical attacks, but the Cluckatrice will occasionally use Petrify or Slow so be sure to have healing skills or items ready to deal with that.

A Quickening chain with a finisher should be enough to destroy or at least severely weaken the smaller foes leaving you with a solitary target to concentrate on, but steer clear of Wind attacks as all the enemies will absorb it. She doesn't really have any tricks up her sleeve beyond becoming slightly more aggressive as her HP gets low, so just keep pounding away until the job is done.
Once you've taken the targets down return to the village to collect the bounty - Jackboots are reasonably useful, and the Rainbow Egg will unlock a bargain price pack of potions at the Bazaar when sold.
