Fallout 4 mods are already changing the game in cool ways
War. War never changes. Unless you mod it, then you can change loads of stuff.
Fallout 4 has been out for less than a week but modders are already hard at work churning out add-ons that'll alter and in many cases improve your adventures in post-nuclear Boston.
Over on nexusmods they've created a whole site dedicated to mods for Fallout 4, and I've had a look at some of the most popular downloads to see what's on offer.
Enhanced Wasteland Preset.
Fallout 4 is more colourful than its predecessor, but that hasn't stopped the Boston wastes from looking a little washed out. The Enhanced Wasteland Preset from Razed adds a little more vibrancy to the environment with dither, serpia, SMAA and a bunch of other features that only the folks at Digital Foundry would understand. In layman's terms, The Enhanced Wasteland Preset makes Fallout 4 look prettier and shinier.
Batch File all the junk.
There's nothing more annoying when crafting a base in Fallout 4 than running out of junk halfway through a build and having to head out and hunt for more.
That's why Batch File all the junk from Jobac is a godsend for all you master builders out there. This file fills your workbench with 1000 pieces of each junk item in the game, so instead of scavenging you can concentrate on the important things in life, like building a gigantic house in the shape of a penis that lights up at night.
Unlimited Settlement Objects.
Make sure you combine the junk mod with the Unlimited Settlement Objects mod from Spyder638 for ultimate building potential. This one removes the settlement object limit from the game so you can create entire towns, rather than just a few houses. Some of the builds I've seen that use this mod have been really impressive, but this reworking of Sanctuary into a fortress town with a huge generator room by Jarvvski, has to be seen to be believed.
The Eyes Of Beauty Fallout Edition.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder with this character mod from Lograam. Installing The Eyes of Beauty will give your avatar new, realistic eye textures that greatly improve on the vanilla eyeballs that come free with the game. As you can see in this video, you can swap between quite a few different eye textures and you'll be able to do this with either male or female characters.
If enhanced textures do float your boat, it's also worth checking out Water Enhancement Textures by SparrowPrince and Enhanced Blood Textures by dDefinder. They do exactly what you think they would.
Todd Howard Icon for Fallout 4.
I've saved the best for last. Zusk's masterful mod allows you to replace the default desktop icon for Fallout 4 with a picture of Todd Howard's face. I've not tried it out for myself yet, but I have a feeling "it just works".
This was only a small selection from the huge amount of Fallout 4 mods you can find over at Nexusmods, so do pay them a visit if you want to explore the other files they have on offer.
