Eurogamer Expo 2009 opens its doors!
Leeds spirits not dampened by drizzle.
The doors are opening on the Eurogamer Expo 2009 as the first day of the Leeds event gets under way.
Hundreds queued outside the door. The man at the front, David Tweedle, 29, from Widnes, had been standing in line since 8.30am. "I'm here mainly to see Dragon Age: Origins," he told Eurogamer, admitting that he reads our website "every day". [Thanks for your support! - Ed]
Toby and Hitesh, 16, were stood much further back. "We had considered camping out," they revealed, "but thought we might get mugged and urinated on." They're here to play New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Assassin's Creed II.
Hayley, 16, from Wakefield, studies game design at college. She's bonkers about Mass Effect 2 and all things BioWare, and rues that she won't be allowed past the over-18 age barrier to see Dragon Age: Origins. Hayley's dragged her friend Alice along, too, who's "still on the stages of Mario".
The clock chimes 11am and the first of 2000 attendees step over the threshold.
