EA to publish Alice follow-up
American McGee back in Wonderland.
Electronic Arts has announced plans to publish a follow-up to American McGee's Alice, which originally came out in 2000.
Developed by McGee's Spicy Horse studio, under the man himself's creative direction, the new game is due out for PC, Ps3 and Xbox 360.
Speaking to the Associated Press, McGee said the game would "revisit Alice".
"We're still feeling around what time the game will be set, but the premise is much the same. She still has things to deal with, and she's going to be using Wonderland to explore issues that she has in the real world," he explained.
The AP report also said the game has been in development for almost two years. Last February, McGee hinted at a new game just entering pre-production, which may be Alice. At the time he said it was Unreal Engine 3-based.
Not much else is known about the new Alice at the moment, although EA boss John Riccitiello, speaking at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, praised McGee's "vision".
"This new project is a dream come true for me and the fans who've kept the Alice flame alive," American McGee said in a statement.
"EA gave us creative latitude and support on the original game which resulted in something beautiful and daring. This trip through the looking glass promises to be even more exciting."
The original was based on the Quake 3 Arena engine and came out on PC. We rather liked it, although it was a bit peculiar.
