EA among the Human Rights Campaign's "best places to work"
Also donated $1.65 million to the American Cancer Society.
EA has come a long way in the past year. After having been named the "worst company in America" by consumer watchdog site The Consumerist last year, it's reshaped its image to now be called one of the "best places to work for LGBT equality" according to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
The video game publisher scored 100 per cent on HRC's Corporate Equality Index, putting them in the top tier of places to work. "We are extremely proud of this achievement that recognises corporate policies and practices that demonstrate a commitment to LGBT equality and inclusion," EA said in a statement about this honour. It also noted that the company has publicly celebrated multiple Pride Parades and was an official sponsor of the first annual GaymerX convention this summer in San Francisco.
Furthermore, EA's COO Peter Moore tweeted that the company has donated $1.65 million to the American Cancer Society after its Humble Origin Bundle raised $10.5 million. The rest of the proceeds are going to four other charities: the Human Rights Campaign, Watsi, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, and the American Red Cross.
"We're very proud that EA has been named a 'Best Place to Work' by HRC again this year and that our organisation has been recognised for providing a workplace that is inclusive and where everyone feels welcome," said EA's head of Diversity & Inclusion Andre Chambers. "We look forward to continuing that tradition in 2014."
