Death Stranding is PlayStation's second-biggest exclusive this year
Behind Days Gone.
Hideo Kojima's PlayStation 4 timed-exclusive Death Stranding entered the UK boxed games chart in second place, behind a dominant Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Death Stranding sits behind Days Gone as the second biggest PlayStation-published game of 2019. Sony Bend's not-zombie killer sold around a third more copies during its UK launch week.
Amongst other PlayStation-published games - and, certainly, Sony invested heavily in Death Stranding's development - Kojima's new opus ranks in sales similar to The Order 1866 and Bloodborne. Each shifted similar amounts to Death Stranding during their first weeks on sale - all within 3000 copies of each other.
Death Stranding's arrival pushes Nintendo Switch exclusive Luigi's Mansion 3 (which sold slightly more than Death Stranding during its own launch week, albeit with another day on sale) down to fourth, below FIFA 20.
Other new entries include Need for Speed: Heat in fifth, a new Fortnite skins bundle in seventh, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - another Switch exclusive - in eighth.
Outside the top 10, Just Dance 2020 was 15th and Jumanji: The Video Game was 16th. Of the various platforms Just Dance 2020 released on, 55 per cent of sales came from Switch, while 21 per cent of sales were for the Wii version - more than PS4 and Xbox One.
