Codemasters gets Fury
MMO attracts big players.
Codemasters Online Gaming has announced it will be dishing out action MMO Fury across Europe in October.
It follows the closed beta weekend for the game in early July, which evidently attracted the attention of the Lord of the Rings Online publisher.
Fury is a massively multiplayer online game being created by Australian developer Auran, and will try to blend role-playing and action shooter elements into one. You won't be levelling tirelessly here, or chasing the virtual carrot on the end of a stick forever. Instead, you will be battling other people playing the game. Quickly and frantically.
The key to success in this fast-paced player versus player combat will be your combination and deployment of special abilities, with a heavy emphasis on player skill rather than player statistics. If you best your foe, you will increase in rank, and more ability slots and options will open to you.
More than 400 abilities are said to be in the full game, to help define your ludicrously over-the-top martial arts style. And for those of you with an equipment hankering, there will be plenty to collect. Couple it with eye-pleasing visuals from the Unreal Engine 3, and you can see why Codemasters is interested.
"We are pleased to announce our latest partnership with Auran to bring the long awaited Fury to Europe," said David Solari, big cheese at Codemasters Online Gaming. "We believe this unique and groundbreaking product will appeal to MMO and action shooter gamers alike. It's going to drive forward the online persistent market with Fury's new style of free to play, instant online action."
