COD: Modern Warfare 3 DS announced
Dev explains why 3DS misses out.
A version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released for DS, developer n-Space has announced.
An Australian ratings board listing reveals its full title as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance.
The 3DS will apparently miss out on the action however. Disappointed? Don't blame n-Space, the company has said, replying to fan outcry at the lack of support for Nintendo's new handheld.
"You guys all need to understand that we make the games we are hired to make," a response on n-Space's official Facebook page reads.
"It is not our call to decide which platforms to support. Obviously we are big 3DS fans and supporters as we have 3 titles in development. If it were as simple as us choosing what products and platforms to develop for I would get a lot more sleep."
n-Space is Activision's regular go-to studio for Call of Duty on DS. It developed versions of Modern Warfare, World at War and Black Ops, as well as a Modern Warfare 2 spin-off, Mobilized.
MW2: Mobilized was a "companion narrative" to MW2, set in an alternate reality. Does MW3: Defiance's name suggest a return to that side-story?
Last week Black Ops developer Treyarch revealed it was working on a Wii version of Modern Warfare 3 for launch with its PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 brothers in November.
