Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has a YOLO mode
Get rekt.
This year's Call of Duty has a YOLO mode.
Infinite Warfare's YOLO mode does exactly what it says on the tin: you only live once. That's right, permadeath. If you die you have to start the campaign all over again from the beginning.
To unlock YOLO mode, you have to first complete the campaign on Specialist mode. Activision describes Specialist Mode as "intensely realistic", and by that it means it's rock hard.
So, you can only heal with Nano Shots. There's no health regeneration.
Helmets are your only protection from headshots. They take permanent damage and need to be replaced.
And if you get shot in the legs, your movement is impacted. If you get shot in either arm, your ability to use equipment or aim down sights is impacted. Oh yeah, and your weapon can be shot out of your arm.
Specialist difficulty sounds pretty hard, but Activision offers a word of advice: master the lean from behind cover mechanic. To do it, approach the edge of cover while standing or crouching, then aim down sights when you see a chevron appear on the side of your crosshairs. That will make you auto-pop from behind cover as you ADS.
Meanwhile, Activision said the Jackal Assault VR experience will be made available to all PlayStation 4 owners, not just those who have bought the game, as a free download. It'll be available on 4th November from the PlayStation VR section of the PlayStation Store. Of course, you still need PlayStation VR to play.
