Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 not dead, has "evolved" - Gearbox
"People are going to be surprised by what they see."
Feared-dead shooter Brother in Arms: Furious 4 is alive, Gearbox co-founder and CEO Randy Pitchford has revealed.
Furious 4 made our E3 2012 vapourware list a month after BIA publisher Ubisoft abandoned the Furious 4 trademarks.
But now Pitchford has offered a glimmer of hope. Furious 4 has been absent from the public eye because it's "evolved", he told CVG three times.
"The game has evolved," he said. "People are going to be surprised by what they'll see, and it's still evolving.
"One of the reasons why we're not talking about it now is that it's evolving and we need to make further changes before we can start talking about it."
"I'm looking forward to being able to talk about Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 soon," he added.
But that "soon" will not be before the September launch of Borderlands 2, and probably, we expect, not for a month or two after. Gearbox is also making Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Furious 4 was to be the Inglourious Basterds of the usually po-faced Brothers in Arms World War 2 series, and that didn't go down terribly well with fans.
Four unconventional but unique soldiers trail Hitler himself, and negotiation probably features as high on their to-do list as realism does on Gearbox's.
The first Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 trailer was aired at E3 2011, and featured a now out-of-the-question 2012 release date.
