Big Call of Duty: WW2 patch nerfs quickscoping, speeds up gameplay
Over the top.
A big patch coming to Call of Duty: WW2 tomorrow speeds up competitive multiplayer gameplay and nerfs quickscoping.
Quickscoping is the act of using a sniper rifle to aim down sights before pullling the trigger at the first viable moment for what is hopefully a one hit kill. Those skilled in quickscoping can use it to devastating effect, turning a sniper rifle into a killing machine at medium and even close range engagements.
Quickscoping is the subject of much debate within the Call of Duty community, with some saying it should be scrubbed from the shooter entirely. After tomorrow's patch goes live, you'll find quickscoping with the Kar98k and the M1903, two of the more popular sniper rifles in Call of Duty: WW2, much harder as the ADS transition times for both guns have been nerfed.
Elsewhere, changes to weapon balance should make Call of Duty: WW2 feel faster. SMGs have their base ADS times and ADS in from sprint times buffed. ADS sprint out times match ADS from sprint times.
Rifles have buffed base ADS transition times, but not ADS from sprint times / ADS sprint out times "in an effort to maintain a difference between the SMG and AR class playstyles".
And LMGs have buffed base ADS times.
The upshot is base ADS times for SMGs are faster than rifles, and rifles are faster than LMGs, which makes sense. "In other words, there is now more of a distinction between class playstyles," Sledgehammer said.
The patch notes in full are over on the Call of Duty: WW2 subreddit, and they're well worth checking out if you're into Call of Duty: WW2 competitive multiplayer, like I am. The reception to the patch has been pretty positive so far, which doesn't come as a surprise. Call of Duty: WW2 has been crying out for a weapon tune for some time, and there has been a feeling that the "boots on the ground" WW2-themed gunplay is a tad too slow for its own good.
