PlayStation 2 Armageddon
Interplay talk about the new PlayStation 2 version of wacky third person action game "MDK2"
The original MDK introduced us all to the joys of the sniper rifle, which has now become an indispensable part of almost every new first person shooter. MDK's stealth suited hero returned in the recent sequel on PC and Dreamcast, along with his mentor the Doc, and a bizarre four-armed two-legged dog with a bad attitude. Now MDK2 is coming to the PlayStation 2 in the form of "MDK2 : Armageddon", a specially enhanced version of the already colourful game.
"There are quite a few things that are new to this version from the previous versions", according to Interplay's Todd Morgan. "First and foremost are the controls - we have spent a lot of time redesigning the game controls to take advantage of the Sony Dual Analog controller. We have designed 8 different and unique controller configurations for the user to choose from. That way everyone now has a choice as to how they wish to play the game."
"Another very big thing that we've added to the game are difficulty settings so that the user, again, has a choice as to how they wish to play the game. We also went back through the entire game and made certain puzzles and areas of the game a little less difficult to get past. Now that doesn't mean we made it really easy, but more so just tried to make things a little bit more obvious as to what needs to be done to get past that area, a lot of which was done with visual indicators for the user."
Not that Interplay would suggest that PlayStation 2 owners are dumb, of course. Easy or not though, the game should be available some time early next year hopefully, and is sure to be one of the most gloriously pyrotechnic titles available on Sony's new console.
