John Carmack updated his .plan with some advice on how to get the best out of Quake 3 on a modem connection (such as avoiding overcrowded servers and maps with wide open spaces). Nothing groundbreaking, but if you're having problems with lag it's worth a look.
Meanwhile, Paul Jacquays updated his .plan to let us know that a manual (in doc format) all about "shaders" is now available for those of you wanting to edit the game.
