Annapurna Interactive's lovely afterlife puzzler I am Dead gets October release date
Coming to PC and Switch.
I am Dead, the endearing afterlife puzzler from developers Hollow Ponds and Richard Hogg (who've previously worked on the likes of Hohokum and Wilmot's Warehouse), will be making its way to PC and Switch on 8th October.
Published by the ever-reliable Annapurna Interactive, I am Dead casts players as recently deceased museum curator Morris Lupton, who, with help from his equally dead dog Sparky, must save the tiny island of Shelmerston from volcanic destruction.
What follows is, as Eurogamer's Christian Donlan discovered when he had an early glimpse at I am Dead last month, a sort of find the object game built around investigating the island folk's memories and using Morris' ghostly vision to examine the innards of objects around him.
"Along the way," says Annapurna Interactive on the game's newly launched Steam page, "you will discover many stories about the history and folklore of Shelmerston, and its cast of curious inhabitants and visitors: tourist finches, the fishfolk, morlos, and the Legend of Aggi - the one who originally silenced the volcano..."
Christian was quite taken with the whole thing after his brief play time back in August, saying, "Even over the course of a half-hour demo, it raises interesting thoughts about the relationship between people and the stuff they own and the stuff they leave in their wake."
And if your curiosity's now sufficiently piqued, you can pick up I am Dead for around £15 when it comes to Switch's eShop, the Epic Store, and Steam on 8th October. Additionally, there's currently 10% off until 15th October on Valve's platform.
