Animal Crossing tops Japanese charts
All-new top five for 17-23rd November.
The Wii version of Animal Crossing topped the Japanese charts in its first week on sale, convincing 305,180 locals to part with their cash, while Chrono Trigger's revival as a DS title accounted for a further 271,868 sales in second place.
Three other new releases make up the top five in the latest round of Media Create figures, for 17th-23rd November, and Gundam vs. Gundam can count itself unlucky only to make third, having shifted 266,932 units on PSP to keep pace with the Square Enix RPG in second.
Then it's Last Remnant, which did 101,543 sales in the Japanese stint of its simultaneous worldwide launch despite middling reviews, and Saka DS: Touch and Go, while the rest of the top ten is made up of games that have been on the shelves for a while, including the million-selling Rhythm Tengoku Gold and Pokemon Platinum.
In terms of hardware sales, the DSi once again lords it over the others with 88,843 sales (with another 18,580 for the DS Lite), while PSP is in second with 61,226, Wii does 35,298, and PS3 and Xbox 360 soldier on with 17,436 and 15,474 sales respectively.
