Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Is Getting 30 Free Days of Disney+

More than enough time to binge The Mandalorian or to watch 1986's Mr. Boogedy several dozen times.

Tomorrow's launch of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S won't be marked by any new, major exclusive games, but Microsoft's pulling out all the stops to make sure that anyone with an Xbox One, a PC, or a new Xbox will want to check out Game Pass. As of today, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers are getting a 30 day trial for Disney+ that'll let folks watch all of the new season of The Manalorian and much, much more.

The social media folks behind the Xbox Game Pass Twitter account teased this new deal over the weekend, but today's new post at Xbox Wire makes it official. Unlike the addition of EA Play to Game Pass, this really is more of a limited-time promotional offering for Ultimate subscribers—in fact, people will only be able to claim the Disney+ trial until Jan. 31. It's also only available to new subscribers, so this won't save you your monthly $7 to Disney+ if you already pay for it.

As this is a Game Pass Ultimate perk, it's not at all limited to Microsoft's new consoles. Subscribers will be able to activate the trial from their Xbox, on PC via the Windows 10 Xbox app, or through the Xbox Game Pass app on Android and iOS.

If you want to watch all of The Mandalorian without needing to pay extra for Disney's streaming service, you will want to wait a bit to claim the offer. Disney's breakout hit Star Wars show is being released one episode at a time; season 2 is set to wrap up on Dec. 18, so waiting until Nov. 19 or later to activate the trial is probably wise.

Xbox Game Pass has seen rapid growth over the past year, leaping from 10 million subscribers in April to over 15 million come late September. The latter milestone was announced when Microsoft revealed its plans to purchase Bethesda and its parent company ZeniMax for $7.5 billion, a move that's been widely regarded as a way for Xbox to bolster its output of new, high quality titles for Game Pass in the coming years.

This deal is as much a promotional push for Microsoft's subscription service as it is for Disney's. The ongoing blitz for The Mandalorian even extends to Star Wars: Squadrons, which recently received a free update adding cosmetic items inspired by the show.
