Destiny 2's Greediest Guardians Are Camping Out at a New Loot Cave

Bungie brought back the Cosmodrome and, inadvertently, the act of shooting lazily into a room for shiny engrams.

A lot of the stuff that Bungie's done with Destiny 2 of late looks cool to me, but one reason I haven't dived back in is that I personally don't have a great grasp on what I'd need to do to have adequate gear. Back in my day-i.e. the very early days of the first Destiny-in a pinch, I could just farm the ol' loot cave for some engrams. Now, with Beyond Light, it seems like players have stumbled upon the closest replacement for the classic loot cave yet.

As Ethan Gach relays over at Kotaku, word of a new loot cave spread throughout the Destiny 2 community over the weekend like playground rumors of a Mew near the S.S. Anne. This new loot cave also happens to be in the Cosmodrome, the same locale that was home to the first cave and which was just brought back into Destiny rotation with the release of Beyond Light.

Gach can speak to the fine details of how useful this new loot cave is, but on the whole it sounds like it's not quite as game-breaking as the first one was. If you already spend a lot of your time playing Destiny 2, then there's a good chance you're devoting it to activities that are more rewarding (or which have stronger rewards, or are simply more fun...) than shooting into a darkened room in The Divide.

Still, if you want to just rack up headshots and see a floor littered with glowing D12s, the new loot cave will scratch that itch. Meanwhile, the old loot cave can still be found at Skywatch in the new version of the Cosmodrome and still has the same Easter egg that Bungie added back with the release of The Taken King: go inside and you'll find a pile of bodies that triggers a spooky message when interacted with.

Bungie will probably patch out the new loot cave right quick, so get in on it now if you're so inclined. Next month will see the release of a free next-gen upgrade for Destiny 2, so perhaps the fix will wait until then. Beyond Light is available now for PS4, Xbox One (where it's included with Game Pass), PC, and Google Stadia.
